These are inspiring words. As parents, Denise and I try regularly to have our boys think about something in a way that attaches itself to a value. “Was not listening to the teacher a respectful behavior?” Tailoring a child’s thinking so that it becomes automatic to “make the right choice” takes intentional repeating and reinforcing to get him/her there. Before too long, you get a response from the back seat on the way to the soccer game, “Dad, I’m not too worried about winning the game, but just being part of the team.” I need to get Mr. Dungy’s book. ~ Jay
Quiet Strength

“Champions do not beat themselves. If you want to win, do the ordinary things better than anyone else does, day in and day out. We are not going to fool people or out-scheme them. When we get in critical situations, we won’t have to think. We will play fast and fundamentally sound” -Chuck Noll
“Respond to adversity; do not react.”

My son bought the book Quiet Strength by Tony Dungy after hearing about it from Mr. Russell.
I started reading it last night and I can’t put it down. I have not gotten very far into but hope to later tonight.
Can’t wait to find out more. I am also purchasing Parenting With Love and Logic as my next reading project.
Thanks,
Mendi
